3 Months

Time is flying by!  Cash and Walker you are now 3 months old and both of you are doing FABULOUS!

So what does 3 months mean?!

Cash
Food: Similac Advance (yep - no more of the high calorie stuff); 5 to 6 ounce bottles; 5 times a day (yes that is right, no more 9:30 pm ,11 pm, and 2 am feedings - AMEN)!
Weight: 13 to 14 lbs (this is not an official weight - this is best guess based on some Aggie Math and the home scale).
Diapers: The 2's!
What are you doing?: Focusing More and More daily, smiling from ear to ear, you seem to recognize certain voices (me, your dad, Mimi, and Nana)!; tummy time - you like the activity mat and love to check out all the things lighting up; You are a super "Chill" baby, you roll with the punches and just are always Happy!

Walker
Food: Neosure (we are still working to pack on the pounds)!; 4 and 1/2 to 6 ounces bottles; 5 times a day (most of the time - you pretty much eat when you want to eat and don't eat when you don't want to...so no change Mr. Walker is still in Charge)!
Weight: 12ish pounds (again, a bit of a guess - but you are getting bigger by the day)!
Diapers: You are wearing the #1's but as soon as we run out, its Upgrade time #2's here you come!
What are you doing?: You are smiling a ton more than you were just a few weeks ago! You like to swing (sometimes); your not a fan of vibrating chairs; You LOVE to be held (and We All love to hold you)! You tell us when your not happy (you put out your lip, shed a few tears - and then of course we All run to you and Hold You :)); you have us wrapped around your little finger!

And finally...
Drumroll please....
What are Both Cash and Walker Doing?!

*SLEEPING!!!!
*Defintion: Bedtime around 8:15/9:00pm and sleep until 5:00/6am (a few "moans, grunts, cries, wimpers); but overall we are only getting up to "soothe" a few times here and there...AMEN!!!

Happy Happy 3 Month Birthday Boys!

PopPop's Birthday!

We celebrated a BIG Birthday (actual birthday was February 21st)....Bill, aka PopPop!  In one of the "few" outings the boys have had in the past 3 months, we ventured to Diane and Bill's for a small celebration for Bill's Birthday, it was a really nice afternoon!

We didn't take too many pictures, but here are a few (the important one's of course, featuring the Birthday Boy and his grandsons!)

Happy, Happy Birthday Bill!

We all love you very, very Much!!

Don't Pick up the Babies!

We are on a Mission.  Operation: Sleep Through the Night. We are bound and determined to "break" the middle of the night "hang out sessions" that we have been having since the boys came home.  This Operation has not been an easy one, so we enlisted some "help". Barb aka the Baby "Whisperer".

Barb asked Mark a series of questions (last Thursday night) and Mark proceeded with confident answers:

How often and how much are they eating? every 3 hours, 4 to 5 ounces
What do they weigh? Cash 13 lbs and Walker 10 lbs 10 ounces
How do you swaddle them? Well we wrap them tight, but they get out every night of the wraps; our kids are brilliant - they are born Houdini's!
What type of swaddle do you use? Velcro of course, easy to use - liked them some much I swear we bought $200 worth of them so we didn't have to wash one set everyday!
What time do you put them down? 9:00ish pm and then wake up at 11pm to feed again (awake or not), and then let them wake us up around 2:30/3am and we feed again
and the list went on....

After the questions were asked, answers complete.  Barb didn't hestitate a second and quickly said to Mark "Y'all are doing it ALL wrong"!

To which Mark calmy replied "Huh?"?!

First, Your swaddling completely wrong. Those velcro swaddle things are "crap"; use the miracle blanket (funny, Mark and I were given those, but thought man these things are a pain in the a**; why would we ever want to mess with those everynight?!).

Next (and this was the Biggie), Barb said "Your boys should be sleeping through the night by now with no problem (they are eating enough and plenty big enough - they don't need to be eating in the middle of the night). We quickly asked the "Baby Whisper" to define "through the night".  In which she replied 7:30 pm to 6 am!  What?  No way?!

Okay, we are listening...tell us Exactly how?!

Simple, "Don't Pick Up the Babies".

And so it began, we put them down at 9 pm for the night and we "Don't Pick Up the Babies" until after 5 am, no matter what!

Let me state, that this "procedure" may all sound easy, but it is not.  It is a nightly test of extreme will power.  Mark and I along with Mimi and Nana (thank God they have continued to offer their help); have gone on "shifts" of 30 minute to an hour rotations.  During your shift you "Pat the baby(ies), give a "pacifer","shhhish" them, but whatever you do, you "DO NOT Pick Up the Babies".

While 30 mins to an hour may seem short, it is about the maximum time (in my opinion) a person can last before your will power begins to fade, your arms begin to feel numb, and you start thinking thoughts like "man, if we just picked up the baby things would be good"; and at that point in time, Your "Reinforcement Shift" arrives and you leave the room, turn your head to the next "Crew" and Simply say, remember "Don't Pick up the Babies"!

So I am sure you all are now wondering if Operation: Sleep through the Night is completed?

Well, I am happy to report, we have NOT Picked up the Babies! We are not completely there yet in terms of 7:30 pm to 6 am, but I believe we have turned the corner and our Mission will be Succesfully Complete sooner rather than later.

As of today, we are now putting babies down at roughly 8:30/9pm, in a "Miracle Blanket" (velcro swaddles have been retired - look for them on ebay :)); and we wait for the first "chirps" to begin which has been roughly around 2:45 am, lasting until 4/430 am. This is Major PROGRESS!

Cash and Walker, when you eventually learn to read and you happen to read this - I just want you both to know, we all LOVE to HOLD You!  Don't get big too fast so we can keep holding you tight in our laps (during the day that is)!  At night, we will stick with the current Motto: Don't Pick Up the Babies!

XOXOXOXOXO

Here are our precious babies sleeping (nap time); they do sleep in their cribs at night!

Capturing the Moment

I need to put in a brief "plug".  Mark and I have some very amazing friends, and we just happen to have one very dear friend who happens to be a VERY Gifted Photographer, Becky Ellsworth!
"We Sing for Joy at the Works of Your Hands"
Psalm 92:4

Becky graciously visited our home on January 21st and did the honors of "Capturing these Moments"!
Thank You Becky!

Therapy Post

This is what I will call my "therapy post". Tomorrow is going to be a very, very, very, very, very (okay you get my drift) tough day. I go back to work (my day job).

While most who know me, know that I do love my job, I am very passionate about what I do and I love closing deals; Cash and Walker leaving you guys home will be one of the very hardest things I have yet to do as a mother. (Don't worry I am well aware in the months and years ahead I am sure we will have bigger fish to fry, but today I will dwell on climbing this mountain since it currently seems to be Everest).

My heart will be heavy (it already is). I know my mind will be wondering each second of the day what you guys are up to (I already am - please don't start crawling or something this week :)). And I will be missing you both like crazy (I already do and gosh darn it, I am sitting here typing, crying, and y'all are in the other room and I haven't even left yet)!

Argh, this is not going to be easy.

So, my prayer today, tonight, tomorrow, and in the days ahead is for God to give me strength and courage. For Him, to help me find a solid balance between "my day job", my family, and my friends. For me to figure out my "new normal" and how to excel in each aspect of my life, and to just be Thankful to God for giving me all of these blessings and this mountain to climb.  This mountain may be high, but I know the view at the top is worth putting one foot in front of the other each and every day.

Cash and Walker, one thing is for damn sure, You Guys handsdown are The Very Best "Deals" of my "career"!

Is it 5 o'clock on Friday yet?!

My Valentines

Simple words, I LOVE YOU!

I use to have one Valentine, now I have 3 and couldn't imagine any less!

Mark, Cash and Walker one question...

Will y'all be my Valentine?!

One, thing is for sure Walker LOVES his brother, so much that he was giving him Valentine's Kisses!

Happy Valentine's Day to my loves and to You and Yours!

2 Months

So you may be wondering what Cash and Walker have been up to these days???...Ummm pretty much getting BIGger by the second!

Boys, y'all are both growing like weeds!  Seriously, your both like Michael Phelps - y'all have been eating your Wheaties! Maybe one day - y'all will be the first Twins on the Wheaties Box (I mean your Dad and I do want to retire one day,  One can dream right!...Still thinking Professional Doubles Tennis Players...we can discuss when your a little older.)
2 Months, Oh Yeah!

Bro, Can you Believe We are 2 Months?!

Party on, we are 2 months!
Okay, back to "Growing Up".

First, Walker.

Walker, you literally are changing in front of our eyes by the day. You are giving your brother a run for his money (Cash, no pun intended) on taking home the title "Heavy Weight 2 Month Champ"!

"W" you are 9 lbs! You have a slightly larger head than your brother and you are getting taller - you are 20 1/2 inches long!

So what else have you been doing lately?
Food - You eat when you want to eat, your like your Mom, if your hungry you eat, if your not you purse those lips and your like "leave me alone people"!
You sometimes take 4 ounces, other times you take 2 - you have a mind of your own already and are doing it "Walker's Way" - Your a born leader!
What You Lookin' At?!  Walker your starting to focus on lights, fans, shadows, Your Dad and I (Or at least we like to think so :)!) Oh, and your grinning, man you are going to be a Heart Breaker - girls look out!
What else?!  You really like to be held, and we ALL cherish this time that you want to be held - we know one day we will look back and miss these days of you wanting to sit in our laps, lay on our chests,  and just chill. We love our time cuddling with you!
Big Step! No, your not crawling just yet, but you are officially off your heart monitor - AMEN!
"On the Charts"  You Hit the mark this month and are now in the 1 percentile versus other "full term babies". While this may seem like a low percent, This is HUGE progress for our 4 lb Premie! Walker Your Rolling Heads with your Growth!

Cash, Your "SO MONEY"!
Trying to explain that you were a Premie.  Buddy, all we can say is it has been tough to explain.  Defintiion of a "premie" = a small baby; Ummm, that's about the last thing you are.  Cash, you are now 11 lbs and 2 ounces! 25% percentile versus full term babies, You ROCK!
"Food" - Your pretty darn predictable. Your every 3 hour request: "I'll take 4 ounces, yes please!" You rarely turn down a bottle. You are now getting a little Rice Cereal in your bottle at night (hopefully to help with the "grunting" or acid reflux that we think you may have?!).  Heck, if you start sleeping thru the night - you will be getting rice cereal everynight and your brother will be joining you!
What Else?! You are smiling so much! And boy it makes all of us smile, I can tell you one thing - We will NEVER get tired of seeing that precious grin.
Check me out!  You are picking up your head, turning it side to side and just checking out the world.
Heart!  You have a Big Heart, We confirmed that.  So, the Doctor heard a slight murmur and ordered an echo, but all they found found (thank you God) was what we knew you have had since you were born, a BIG Heart and lots of love to share!
You are still on your heart monitor at night, I am beginning to think it is just your way of saying "come see me Mom, Dad, Mimi, Nana, Aunt Margie, or anyone else that wants to visit in the middle of the night :)!". Walker, don't get any ideas!

Next up, things that make you go "hmmmmm"!

"TWINDOM"
Definition (according to me): Things that Twins do that you may or may not ever understand, but swear that "they" discuss with each other and then implement (whether they can talk or not).

Samples of "Twindom" during Month 2:

Sleeping (Eyes Wide Open) - 3 to 4 hours is about the longest we have made it without "someone" having their "eyes wide open"; We think y'all have made a sleeppact.

It is my theory, that you guys go on rotations on who is going to wake the other one up and remind them that "Hey, their are People out there willing to feed us every 3 to 4 hours, why not take advantage of our help!".  And so it goes, we feed you at 11 pm everynight - whether your awake or not - and then we all pray to see you in 5 or 6 hours, but end up seeing you sooner.  Y'all are getting there though (at least we think); hopefully we are on the downside of the mountain and will hit cruise control soon!

Choirs -  I know of very few "one man bands" and you guys are no exception.  If one of you "Sings" (okay, cries) your Brother feels that you can't be on stage solo; so 9 out of 10 times you have a back-up singer.

Wrap-Up

Cash and Walker, We thought Month 1 couldn't get any better, but man Month 2 has been STELLAR!

Your Dad rushes home from work (and while I like to think he is rushing home to see me) I have a sneaky suspiscion he is missing you guys like crazy during the day and can't wait to get home to "Hang with his Boys"!.  You have made your Dad smitten (he has been smitten these past 2 months like he was when he met me years ago! Mark you best be just shaking your head in agreement right now!).

And for me, 2 Months of being home with you both can be summarized in 1 simple word, JOY.
I heard all these years from family, friends, and others about Love for your child and I didn't completely grasp it,  I do now.
Cash and Walker, I never knew this kind of love until I met you both. To quote my buddy Jerry McQuire, You Complete Me!

Happy 2 Month Birthday Boys!
